Branding created for the coverage of the 2020 elections which was later refreshed for use during the 2022 election cycle.
Initially the design was inspired by the classic “I Voted” sticker. I created a suite of graphics and iconography that also resembled stickers and getting out the vote. The Tribune’s core color yellow was a main feature woven throughout.
In 2022, we wanted to elevate the system and allow for it to feel more seamless in our coverage across product and platform.
I was inspired by feelings of uncertainty, mental fog, and exhaustion. The gradient was brought in to resemble shades of purple in the stark red and blue landscape of Texas politics. Contrasting this imagary with the clear, informative, trusted tone of The Texas Tribune’s reporting.
